We first visited Michele and Keith’s little Cottage on the Rock in 2012, and barring 2020 when COVID hit, we have been back every summer since. We fell in love immediately with the place, and as our family grew, we have grown to love it even more.

The first thing we noticed was the tranquility of the place — the blueberry field by the street, the long driveway that winds and descends towards the cottage, the flashes of ocean as you arrive. And the view from the back deck — oh my goodness! If that was the only great thing about this place, it would still be worth visiting!

Whether we’re having a cup of morning coffee and watching the lobster boats set their pots, or watching the sun set over on the mountains of Acadia National Park, the serenity of the view is just the greatest. From that deck, we’ve watched eagles, seals, herons and countless gulls work the waters of the Skillings river and Frenchman Bay — never the same show twice! From the side of the property, the natural harbor and rocky beach lets us take our kayaks up river and around the bay, where we have had some of our best wildlife sightings, as well as some close encounters with curious seals. And for us, the proximity to the park and Bar Harbor is great — it’s close enough that you’re there in a short drive, but far enough away that we could get away from the crowds, make dinner and wind down — especially when our kids were younger.

Everything about the place is perfectly set up for real life — we’ve made blueberry muffins and lobster mac and cheese, baked bread, and read a lot of books by the fireplace when the weather has turned rainy and cold.

Every year has seen some kind of improvement to the place — the latest ones being the little kid adventure pathway and the upgraded kitchen. Michele and Keith have made the place as warm as can be, stocked with books, games, and things to keep the kids entertained. The time and care they have put into the place is just amazing. We’ve followed a lot of the suggestions in their their “binder of things to do” and found a lot of our own local adventures as well.

Whether you are looking to hunker down, hang out, or get out and explore, you can’t do better than this beautiful getaway spot.

The deck is so close to the ocean that you can sit and watch nature go by without binoculars... though there are two pairs available if you want to look even closer!

My husband and I have spent a week at the Little Lamoine Cottage for the last two years and there are few places we would rather be! The cottage is simple but very comfortable and clean and has everything you could need for your stay, including good internet access for those who aren’t able to cut the email cord on vacation.

The deck is so close to the ocean that you can sit and watch nature go by without binoculars… though there are two pairs available if you want to look even closer! We have seen eagles, otters playing just below the deck, heron, seals; and love to watch the lobster boats coming and going each day.

Bar Harbor isn’t far for evening dining, and a supermarket is even closer in Ellsworth if you want to cook in the very well stocked kitchen. Hiking, biking, the beauties of Acadia, and quiet reading on the deck are all added attractions. We will be back!

There are no words to describe walking outside from the sliding glass doors to the main deck. The view is amazing, wonderful, awe inspiring!

We recently stayed at the most beautiful cottage. The Little Lamoine Cottage on the Rock in Maine is everything you could hope for and more.

The drive up to the cottage from the main road is perfect. You come around that final bend and there is the cottage with the most beautiful view. You have to take a moment to just stand there in awe.

When entering you walk into a welcoming living room. Everything was so clean and relaxing. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could possibly need. Sitting at the dining room table in front of the sliding glass doors couldn't be more perfect. All the bedrooms (3 of them) were just what you would want. The master bedroom downstairs has a full bath while the 2 bedrooms upstairs share a Jack & Jill half bath. The upstairs bedrooms also have the pleasure of an upstairs outside deck.

There are no words to describe walking outside from the sliding glass doors to the main deck. The view is amazing, wonderful, awe inspiring! Just sit outside and you need nothing else. We had the pleasure of meeting our hosts, Michele and Keith Havey. Two more welcoming, friendly hosts you couldn't find. They thought of every need for their guests.

There is a binder in the cottage with any and all information you may need for your vacation. I highly recommend this cottage for your vacation. You won't want to leave!

Imagine what you think Maine should be like. ... The Little Lamoine Cottage On The Rock is all of that and more.

Look no further!

Imagine what you think Maine should be like. Imagine being able to find such a place. Imagine no longer. The Little Lamoine Cottage on the Rock is all of that and more.

You will not be able to get any closer to the water. The views of Bar Harbor from the deck and the 180 degree view leaves you feeling like you are all alone enjoying the majesty of nature and Maine at its finest.

We have enjoyed visiting the Cottage over the nine previous years. It is like no other and will have you wanting to come back again and again. Does not disappoint. The Cottage is lovely and sleeps 6 comfortably. It delivers on the feel of spaciousness with its two-story vaulted ceiling and beautiful views out all windows. Perfectly nestled 1/4 of a mile off the road. See eagles, harbor seals, blue herons, and lobster boats serenely stopping and pulling up their catch. There isn’t another place I’d rather be.
